Happy Monday, Victoria!

It’s the last day of August, and the summer has flown by.

The Fringe Festival takes a little break this Monday, but there are still some great events to get you out of the house.

From free concerts and dance classes to the Gorge Farmers market, get up to something fun!

Here are 5 things to do in and around Victoria this Monday, August 31st:

Free Beginner Brazilian Zhouk Class and Social at Ship Point

Every Monday until September 7th, head to Ship Point for a free outdoor beginner Latin dance class!

These classes are sponsored by the City of Victoria.

The social dancing time after the class is the perfect time to practice what you’ve learned, connect with others and get one-on-one help from instructors.

Last year there were more than 100 dancers at almost every class. Don’t miss out on this summer tradition!

Class time is from 6 p.m. to 7:15 p.m., and social dancing is from 7:15 p.m. to 8 p.m.

These events are free and everyone is welcome to attend.

The Gorge Farmers Market

The Gorge Farmers Market is in full swing!

Happening every Monday until September 21st, the Gorge Farmers market will be setting up shop in Gorge Park.

This year, the market is celebrating its fifth season. Local food, live music, a beautiful view of the Gorge Waterway and over 50 vendors.

Get down to Gorge Park and buy local! The market is free and everyone is welcome to attend.

  • When: Monday, August 24th – 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

The Hoss Mountain Stringband at the Cameron Bandshell

The City hosts summer concerts at the Cameron Bandshell that run Friday to Monday from July to Labour Day.

This Monday features The Hoss Mountain Stringband, a bluegrass group.

These events are almost done for the season, so make sure to catch one before it’s too late!

The City’s summer concerts are free and everyone is welcome to attend.

  • When: Monday, August 31st – 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Monday Night Mashup: Happy Doomsday! at The Scene with the Other Guise Theatre Company

Head down to the final Monday Night Mashup of the season, featuring comedy, music and storytelling!

Don’t miss your last chance to see what the performers from the Other Guise Theatre Company have been working on.

The Other Guise Theatre company is supporting local performers in the city. This is a great opportunity to support your local arts scene!

This event is pay-what-you-can, and tickets can be purchased here.

  • When: Monday, August 31st – 7 p.m.

Tyler James Johnson at Ship Point

The City hosts lunchtime concerts at Ship Point on Mondays and Tuesdays from June to Labour Day.

These events feature talented local performers, bringing vibrant, live music to the community.

This Monday, Tyler James Johnson will take to the stage, bringing with him some folk Americana.

These events are free and everyone is welcome to attend.

  • When: Monday, August 31st – 12 p.m. to 1 p.m.
