Nanaimo RCMP seeks witnesses following alleged assault on jogger

Nanaimo RCMP are seeking witnesses following the assault of a 21-year-old female jogger last month.

According to police, the incident took place at approximately 4:20 p.m. on Thursday, June 9th on Second Street near the intersection of Pine Street.

The woman told police that an unknown male riding a bicycle approached her from behind while she was out for a run and allegedly grabbed her backside. The rider then rode away.

The suspect is described as a Caucasian man, approximately 35 years of age, with a slim build, standing at around 6’3″ tall, with short brown hair and a scruffy beard.

He was wearing a black hoodie with the hood up, tight black or grey pants, a black oval-shaped backpack and riding an older model, possibly red, mountain bike.

Investigators say they have completed extensive inquiries into the incident, including canvassing for CCTV and speaking to residents in the area, but to date have not been able to identify the suspect.
