More major delays expected on Cook Street as construction continues

Share

Cook Street will see more major delays in the coming weeks as road construction continues along the corridor.

From Thursday, July 9th to Friday, July 10th, crews will be milling and paving the roadway between Slater Street and Tolmie Avenue.

This will cause delays as crews implement single-lane alternating traffic while working on the corridor.

Additionally, the Maplewood Road slip lane will be closed off from Cook Street. Crews will be on site directing traffic at the intersection of Cook, Maplewood and Tolmie for a duration as the traffic signals will be down.

Nearby residents and motorists can expect construction-related noise, dust and odours.

This weather-dependent work will take place from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The following two weeks, between Monday, July 13th and Friday, July 24th, traffic on Cook will be impacted from Hillside Avenue to Slater Street.

During these two weeks, crews will be installing concrete bike lane medians, road markings and traffic signs.

This is expected to cause traffic delays, intermittent crosswalk closures and noise in the area.

On Cook at the intersection of Kiwanis Way and Cedar Hill Road, crews will be preparing for sidewalk and concrete pouring, which is expected to cause some possible traffic delays.

At the intersection of Cook and Finlayson Street, underground preparation for traffic signal pole upgrades will be underway. This will cause lane closures and possible crosswalk closures.

Additionally, during this time, some Cook Street upgrades will impact Quadra Street.

On the northwest corner of Quadra at Kings Road, and the southwest corner of Quadra and Hillside, underground electrical work will be conducted by crews causing some possible lane closures, traffic delays and pedestrian detours.
