The City of Victoria has provided updates on both the Cook Street and Blanshard Street road construction, detailing the work being done and impacts to traffic.
Between Monday June 1st and Friday June 12th, crews will continue their work on the corner of Cook and Hillside Avenue.
There traffic signal upgrades are underway with crews excavating for underground work and they are pouring concrete to form curbs on three-of-four corners at the intersection.
Motorists can expect traffic delays and lane closures, while pedestrians can expect sidewalk closures and detours around the excavations.
The City noted that the intersection of Cook and Hillside will be down to one lane in each direction to complete the traffic signal upgrades with flaggers controlling traffic, but details on when that closure will be are yet to come.
Further south at the intersection of Cook and Kings Road southbound lanes will be impacted by concrete pouring to form curbs from June 1st to June 5th.
Impacts will include lane closures, traffic delays and pedestrian detours.
Between Cook and Hillside, work will continue on the new bike lanes, with additional lane closures, traffic delays and construction noise to be expected.
Next week, from June 8th to June 12th, Cook will be impacted between Slater and Finlayson Streets while crews work on bike lanes.
Additionally, demolition work will commence at Cook and Kiwanis Way next week.
As for Blanshard, the City of Victoria says the project is in the final stages of construction.
From June 1st and June 12th, crews will work on the corridor between Caledonia Avenue and Bay Street.
Crews will be installing signage, bollards and road markings, which will cause some intermittent lane closures.
