A portion of Cook Street will be closed this week as crews continue to install bike lanes along the corridor.
Cook Street will be closed between Bay Street and Hillside Avenue to all southbound traffic from Monday, June 12th to Friday, June 19th.
The closure is taking place so crews can complete the installation of protected bike lane medians.
In addition to the major traffic delays, commuters and nearby residents can expect construction-related noise, dust and odours.
Other stretches of Cook will also be impacted by the ongoing construction.
From June 15th to June 26th, bike lanes are being installed between Finlayson to Slater Street, causing some lane closures and minor traffic delays.
Excavation work is also taking place at the corner of Cook, Cedar Hill Road and Kiwanis Way for new traffic crossing infrastructure and underground electrical upgrades.
These Cook Street upgrades are taking place from Bay Street to Maplewood Road to complete road paving and maintenance, and to install protected bike lanes, accessibility improvements, intersection safety upgrades and three new crosswalks.
As a result of the work being done, there will be a permanent reduction in parking spaces.
Work is scheduled to be completed on this project by fall.
