Join Frontrunners Shelbourne and Elise Coates for a fun community run!
Maybe you’re celebrating the end of the Vancouver Island Race Series and the start of the Island Trail Series, getting ready for a track race or marathon, hoping to meet some new running pals or just looking for an excuse to get out the door.
Whatever the reason, head on out and run! Everyone is welcome to join for this 6.5 kilometre loop, even if you don’t get a ticket for the workshop.
After the run, you’re invited to stick around for a shoe charm-making workshop with Dre from All & Extra. Add some personality to your race shoes or decorate your everyday sneakers! Dre will provide everything you need to customize your shoes.

Planet Earth Poetry at Russell Books
This one’s for the eco-conscious.
Discover the poetry of local poet Garth Martens at Russell Books, alongside featured poets Louie Leyson and Elizabeth Bachinsky.
The event will be hosted by Iain Higgins, with an open mic at 7:30 p.m. and featured readers at 8 p.m.
Garth Martens is a finalist for the Governor General’s Literary Award for Poetry, the author of Prologue for the Age of Consequence and Who Else in the Dark Headed There, forthcoming in April. He is also a past winner of the Bronwen Wallace Award.

Garden City Soul Club at the Drake Eatery
Head down to the Drake Eatery for a night of great music and infectious energy with DJ I-Lot of the Garden City Soul Club.
Expect a carefully curated selection of Soul and Funk from the 1960s-1970s — Northern Soul, Motown, funk and timeless classics — all played on vinyl 45s.
DJ I-Lot is an expert at delivering big grooves, deep cuts and crowd pleasing favourites that set the tone for a lively night at the bar.

Said the Whale at Capital Ballroom
For those unaware, Said the Whale is one of the biggest names in Canadian Indie music.
Originally from Vancouver, they are an absolute must-see. With huge hits like “Camilo,” “UnAmerican” and “I Love You,” a Said the Whale show is non-stop excitement from start to finish.
