This March, two-time Polaris Music Prize winner Jeremy Dutcher makes his highly anticipated debut with the Victoria Symphony for two stunning performances at the Royal Theatre.
The only artist to ever win the Polaris Music Prize twice, this tenor from the Tobique First Nation will take the stage on Saturday March 14th at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, March 15th at 2:30 p.m., joined by conductor Sean O’Loughlin. The performance will feature music from his award-winning albums Wolastoqiyik Lintuwakonawa and Motewolonuwok.
Blending classical influences with contemporary songwriting, Dutcher performs in both English and Wolastoqey, bringing the beauty, strength, and resilience of the endangered Wolastoqey language to new audiences while celebrating his Indigenous roots.
His music is playful, deeply moving, and rooted in the traditional songs of his home, while speaking powerfully to the present moment through rich vocals, expressive piano playing, and captivating storytelling.
Audiences can expect an emotionally resonant concert that celebrates culture, language reclamation, inclusivity, and reclamation—all brought to life on stage with the full sound of the Victoria Symphony.
