A unique portrait of the titular character from the John Wick film franchise made from 11,111 nails was unveiled in downtown Victoria on Saturday, February 21st.
Local artist Neil Tran dedicated two years to creating this striking portrait of the iconic action film character, played by Canadian actor Keanu Reeves.
The piece is crafted by individually placing 11,111 roofing nails into a wood frame canvas, creating depth and shadow through varying nail lengths.
This one-of-a-kind artwork brings John Wick to life and weighs approximately 200 pounds.
Tran is a Victoria-based creative, originally from Saigon, Vietnam, who aims to bridge the worlds of technology and fine art.
“Art has been a way to communicate beliefs and express ideas about the human experience throughout all stages of civilization and in every region of the world,” said Tran.
He is also the owner of Leap XD, a graphic design and web development company in downtown Victoria, which now serves as the permanent home for the John Wick portrait.
The artwork was unveiled during a special ceremony at Leap XD on Saturday, February 21st, featuring a black-and-white dress code inspired by the John Wick films.
Those interested in seeing the mesmerizing piece in person can visit its permanent display at the front entrance of Leap XD.
