Victoria’s food scene is always changing and evolving.
While there are many amazing eateries, cafes and restaurants in the city, every year brings fresh flavours along with it that add to the overall culinary collection.
Sometimes, a favourite spot closes down, but the good news is that sooner or later, something new will move in and shake things up a bit with their own flavours.
Here are 5 new Victoria spots to check out if you haven’t already:
CairoMum
CairoMum is the newest place to eat in the Jubilee neighbourhood and was started by the husband and wife duo behind the Egyptian Cook Street ghost kitchen, Mama Nadia’s.
The restaurant is located on Fort Street, in the former location of Hong Kong West, which had been in business for over 30 years. They officially opened in mid-December 2025.
They serve Egyptian staples such as koshery, falafel, hummus, baba ganoush and pita, and also make hearty wraps and bowls with options for preferred protein.
Those who walk into CairoMum are all greeted with a smile and a warm welcome, as part of the restaurant’s ethos is to create a community hub where everyone can feel at home.

Niloo Chicken & Grill
After just over a year, Niloo Persian Kitchen & Grill has expanded their business from their headquarters in Royal Oak to take over a space in Esquimalt.
The new restaurant has been dubbed Niloo Chicken & Grill and offers new dishes bursting with Persian flavours.
Niloo Chicken & Grill opened just one week ago on January 25th, and has been steadily serving the community fried chicken, wraps, burgers and bowls ever since.
They also serve some of their staple Persian dishes the same as they do at the Royal Oak location, including their Koobideh kebabs.

Lumache
Small but mighty, Lumache has been making a name for itself since opening in December 2025.
The space, in the former Hank’s location, seats only 16 but has been steadily packed every night since opening.
Lumache specializes in pasta and a contemporary take on classic Italian dishes. They offer a pasta-focussed tasting menu as well as an alla carta menu featuring different varieties of pasta and antipasti.
The focus at Lumache is to do things the slow way, the right way. All dishes are made with locally sourced produce and all pasta is handmade.
Reservations open at the beginning of the month for the month that follows. They have been steadily selling out reservations so act fast if you want to try some of the best pasta in the city.

WAIRUA Cafe
WAIRUA is the newest coffee shop in the North Park community and offers a unique array of drinks and pastries.
The business is Indigenous-owned with strong emphasis on Maori culture and connection.
WAIRUA serves coffee roasted by Vancouver-based Modus Coffee and they specialize in green tea and matcha drinks, sourced from Genuine Tea.
They have both sweet and savoury baked goods which change frequently, making every experience at WAIRUA unique.

Volta Victoria
Volta is a new breakfast and brunch spot in downtown Victoria that prioritizes Spanish flavours.
The restaurant is located in the former Papa Moe’s location on Yates Street and serves a number of paninis, Spanish egg fry-ups, sweet breakfast options and coffee options.
Patrons can dine in at Volta in the small but welcoming space, or choose to grab their breakfast to-go.
The space opened in March 2025 and has been making a name for itself as one of Victoria’s best breakfast/brunch spots ever since.
