The weather forecast is a bit of a mixed bag this week on Vancouver Island, depending on where you are.
In Victoria, Environment Canada is calling for sunny skies up until Sunday, January 24th, when cloud coverage will move into the capital region.
Though the skies will be clear, the week’s daily highs will not be as warm as last weekend. This week’s highs in Victoria range from 5°C to 8°C while the overnight lows are predicted to be between 0°C and -1°C.
Along the southwestern coast of Vancouver Island, between Sooke and Port Renfrew, conditions will be similar to that of Victoria’s.
Skies will be mostly sunny through the week with the exception of Thursday, when some cloud coverage will move into the area.
Daily highs in the region will be between 7°C and 8°C, and lows will get down to around -1°C.
Port Renfrew’s only predicted precipitation through the week may come on Saturday evening in the form of snow, with a 30% chance of showers to follow on Sunday.
Those looking to travel the Malahat pass on the Trans-Canada Highway this week should be safe, as no rain or snow is expected, according to Environment Canada.
In Nanaimo, sunny skies are anticipated, with the exception of some clouds on Thursday and possible flurries on Sunday evening.
Highs are forecasted to be between 4°C and 8°C, while lows will be between 2°C and -1°C.
Further up island is when conditions begin to get a bit more bleak and winter-like.
From Courtenay to Campbell River, there is currently a fog warning in place. This fog is expected to clear by Wednesday morning.
Campbell River and Courtenay’s forecasts are calling for a mix of sun, cloud and showers between Tuesday and Sunday, with highs ranging between 3°C and 9°C and lows around 0°C.
Tofino and Ucluelet’s forecasts are varied, with a mix of sun and cloud, with possible flurries and showers on the weekend.
Highs will range between 7°C and 10°C with lows dropping down to -2°C.
Up in Port McNeill, conditions will be similar to that of Tofino’s. Sun and cloud are predicted through the week with precipitation a possibility over the weekend.
