Vancouver Island made an appearance in a recent Airbnb trend report, highlighting the top winter destinations seeing a surge in Canada.
Comox-Strathcona put Vancouver Island on the list, alongside other BC spots Revelstoke and Osoyoos, of less frequented destinations experiencing a rise in popularity.
With moderate winter temperatures making it an appealing getaway, Comox-Strathcona offers visitors a rare mix of coastal scenery, forested landscapes, and easy access to outdoor adventure.
Traditionally, Comox-Strathcona is often overlooked by its more popular neighbours Tofino and Victoria, but its increase in interest highlights a notable shift in traveller interest.
Among Vancouver Island’s hidden gem, classic favourites like Whistler, Banff, and Mount-Tremblant continued to top Canadians’ itineraries.
Airbnb also revealed Canada’s most wishlisted cozy winter cabins, with the majority located in Quebec and Ontario.
However, BC still earned a spot on the list, with the Buffalo Ranch & Guest House in Golden standing out—and for good reason!
This remote Airbnb offers sweeping mountains and forest views, a cozy brick fireplace, a wood-fired hot tub, and even access to grazing Buffalo.
As travel habits continue to evolve, Canadians appear more eager to explore less-frequented corners of Vancouver Island, choosing quieter destinations like Comox-Strathcona to experience the Island’s forests, coastline, and slower pace this winter.
