The University of Victoria (UVic) has been ranked 16th among the best universities in Canada according to CourseCompare, a Canadian education marketplace.
Recognized as one of the country’s top public research institutions, UVic was praised for both its academic excellence and its supportive learning environment for students and staff.
CourseCompare highlighted several of the university’s standout programs, including ocean science, marine and freshwater biology, Indigenous studies, and their Masters of Business Administration program.
UVic’s biology programs are top-ranking and offer hands-on learning opportunities at the Bamfield Marine Centre on Vancouver Island.
The university’s Indigenous Studies program was also recognized for its focus on the social, political, and cultural facets that shape the lives of Indigenous people and their history.
Currently, UVic is home to more than 22,000 students with an alumni network of over 162,500 worldwide, including notable names like Slack co-founder Stewart Butterfield, comedian and actor Nathan Fielder, and two-time Giller prize-winning author Esi Edugyan.
The ranking adds to a growing list of accolades for UVic, and reminds the community that world-class education can be found right here in Victoria.
