If not, Victoria has plenty going on to kick off the weekend. 

From gallery openings and live music to comedy, rollerskating, and improv, there’s no shortage of ways to get out and enjoy the city.

Here are 5 things to do in and around Victoria this Friday, January 16th:

Go to the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria (AGGV) for the launch of a new season of exhibitions!

The evening will include a welcome by Diane Sam of the Songhees Nation, with words from exhibition curators at 5:30 p.m., music by DJ Nova Jade, and refreshments by Hoyne Brewing Company, Vessel Liquor, and Fizz Bottle Shop.

The exhibitions featured at this event are ਸ਼ੀਸ਼ੇ ‘ਚ ਤਰੇੜ | sheeshe ‘ch thareṛ | a crack in the mirror, Fifty Shades of Ink: Ink Paintings from the AGGV Collection, and Dangerous Beauty: The Prints of Albrecht Dürer.

This is a free event!

Friday Night Skate

Don’t miss a night of drop in rollerskating at GR Pearkes Recreation Center hosted by Marty’s Roller Parties!

Roller skate rentals are available for all ages, except children under five years of age.

The Crowd Work Show

OK, DOPE is proud to present The Crowd Work Show with Nash Park and Alex Forman, a 100% improvised stand-up comedy show at The Mint! 

Alex and Nash will be taking the stage at the same time with absolutely zero material prepared. 

Armed only with a microphone and their wits the two will have to find the funny by talking to the crowd and navigating their surroundings.

The Sutcliffes’ Musical History Tour: The Beatles’ Legacy

Listen to the iconic tunes of The Beatles at Hermann’s Jazz Club!

Terry Marshall, Chuck Simms, and Shaun Wilson put the original band together in 2007 and throughout their run, the band proved to be a top draw, including four headlining appearances on the mainstages of Liverpool’s International Beatle Week and Cavern Club. 

After a several year hiatus, they’re making their epic return, featuring Pedro Arbour on drums and Arman Tesoro on keyboards.
