Belmont Secondary School was briefly placed under ‘hold and secure’ protocol on Thursday afternoon after police responded to a report of threats involving a weapon in a nearby Langford neighbourhood.

According to West Shore RCMP, officers were called to the 3000 block of Langford Lake Road at around noon on January 15th after receiving a third-party report of someone allegedly uttering threats while armed.

In an email statement to Victoria Buzz, police said the initial information provided was limited. As a precaution, officers advised nearby Belmont Secondary School to enter a hold and secure while police searched the area.

The suspect was reportedly located outside in a surrounding neighbourhood and was arrested without incident.

No injuries were reported to police, and the hold and secure was lifted at approximately 1 p.m.

The investigation remains ongoing, and no further details have been released at this time.
