It was a very lucky weekend on Vancouver Island, with two separate $500,000 lottery prizes won in two different communities through two different games, according to the British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC).
One of the wins came from Victoria, where a player captured a $500,000 prize in the Lotto Max draw held on Friday, December 26th.
The following night, another Vancouver Island player struck big in Nanaimo, winning $500,000 in the Lotto 6/49 Extra draw on Saturday, December 27th.
The Nanaimo win came through the Extra portion of Lotto 6/49. A ticket that matched all four Extra numbers earned the top $500,000 prize.
While nobody won the $5 million Classic jackpot in that same draw, one ticket elsewhere in Canada claimed the $1 million Gold Ball prize.
BCLC confirmed there was another $500,000 winner in Nanaimo, making it the only ticket in the country to hit that prize level in the Extra draw.
The Lotto 6/49 winning numbers for the December 27th draw were 02, 08, 23, 28, 29, and 36, with bonus number 13. The Extra numbers drawn were 21, 22, 70, and 95.
Just one day earlier, the Lotto Max draw on December 26th produced the other Vancouver Island win.
While the $80 million Lotto Max jackpot was not claimed, one of the MAXMILLIONS prizes worth $500,000 was won by a ticket sold in Victoria. That same MAXMILLIONS draw also produced additional $500,000 winners elsewhere in Canada.
The Lotto Max winning numbers for that draw were 02, 06, 14, 20, 43, 46, and 47, with bonus number 19. Multiple MAXMILLIONS prizes were available across the country, including several worth $1 million and $500,000.
BCLC reminds players that lottery prizes must be claimed within 52 weeks of the draw date. Winners are encouraged to sign the back of their ticket immediately and contact BCLC for next steps.
