Free downtown shuttle returns to help Victorians explore the city this holiday season

Share

A free shuttle is hitting the streets of downtown Victoria again this December, giving people an easy way to get around during the busiest and darkest weeks of the holiday season.

The Downtown Victoria Business Association (DVBA), with support from sponsor SSA Marine, is running the complimentary service on Friday and Saturday evenings from 4 to 8 p.m. Sundays will be added starting the weekend of December 19th.

The last night of service is December 28th.

Unlike a traditional bus route, the shuttle doesn’t run on a fixed schedule. Instead, it continuously loops between key downtown stops, pausing for a couple of minutes at each location so riders can hop on without a long wait.

The shuttle stops at three main destinations:

  • Hotel Grand Pacific and Fathom: The pickup spot is at the back of the hotel on Quebec Street—an easy starting point for anyone grabbing dinner or warming up with a drink before a night out
  • Government Street at Bastion Square: Riders can jump off near the Running Room on Government Street, close to the Bay Centre for last-minute shopping or a stroll through the decorated streets and historic square
  • Lights of Wonder in Centennial Square: One of downtown’s biggest holiday draws, Lights of Wonder offers free live music, glowing displays and plenty of photo-worthy backdrop. The shuttle stops on Pandora Avenue near the entrance to Centennial Square.

While at Hotel Grand Pacific location, make sure to check out the Gingerbread Showcase inside the hotel.

Visitors can browse the incredibly decorated gingerbread houses daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. until January 4th, 2026, and vote for their favourite one—earning the winner the honour of being the 2025 People’s Choice Award!

“This free shuttle is a fun and convenient way for everyone to enjoy all that downtown Victoria has to offer this holiday season,” said DVBA CEO Jeff Bray.

“Whether you’re shopping, dining, or just soaking in the festive atmosphere, the shuttle makes getting around easy and stress-free.”

Details on the full shuttle route can be found online.
