‘Tis the season to support our troops!

Ahead of Remembrance Day, the Victoria Royals will face this year’s Memorial Cup hosts, the Kelowna Rockets, in their annual Military Appreciation Night this Friday.

The Royals will hit the ice in specialty military-inspired jerseys for this game, which will be auctioned off in support of the Esquimalt Military Family Resource Centre.

You can place your bids on the specialty jerseys online here!

There will also be a ceremonial puck drop, and the Naden Band of the Royal Canadian Navy will be out for the anthem. Plus, Chuck-A-Puck will directly support the Cadets!

In the plaza at Gate 1, there will be a FDU(P) Bomb Truck, Sparky’s Fun House and a Military Police Unit on display for fans to explore—puck drop is set for 7:05 p.m.

CAF Appreciation Night is one of the Royals most meaningful games, honouring Canadian troops and their service.

“The Canadian Armed Forces night represents a meaningful opportunity for our team and our city to come together in a shared expression of gratitude,” said Vice-President of Hockey Operations, Joey Poljanowski.

“We are proud to honour the service of the Canadian Armed forces and their families. We are privileged to have such strong partnerships in Victoria with Armed Forces and to host an evening that brings people together in support of those who serve.”

And the fun continues on  Saturday, when the Royals will meet the Rockets again in back-to-back contests. Puck drop for Saturday’s game is at 4:05 p.m.

The Victoria Royals are currently sitting at the top of the BC Division, tied with the Penticton Vees with 19 points, respectively.

When it comes to the Western Conference, the Royals hold second place, following behind the Everett Silvertips.

The Kelowna Rockets currently sit sixth in the BC Division, with a 5-5-1-1 record across 12 games played this season.

In their two previous meetings this season, Victoria and Kelowna have earned one win a piece, with both games going to a shootout.

It’s going to be an exciting weekend of back-to-back hockey, so make sure to grab your tickets here for your chance to be a part of it!
