Heads up, Saanich Peninula residents!
Masala Roots is bringing their bold Indian flavours back to Brentwood Bay, this time on wheels.
The popular takeout spot, now based in View Royal, has been working behind the scenes on a brand new food truck that will serve many of the dishes their Brentwood Bay customers have been missing since the move earlier this year.
Owners Jagpreet Kaur and Prabhjot confirmed the truck will operate under the name Masala Roots Express.
The truck is expected to launch in the first week of December. They are still waiting for their scheduled health inspection on Monday before locking in a final opening day.
For now, they’re asking everyone to keep an eye on their social media pages for the official announcement.
For longtime fans who were sad to see them leave Verdier Avenue, this is a full-circle moment.
“Returning to Brentwood Bay was always our mission,” Kaur told Victoria Buzz.
“After we moved, people continued to make weekly orders and even drove all the way to View Royal to get their favourite dishes. Their love and loyalty honestly motivated us.”

Masala Roots originally opened in Brentwood Bay in 2024 and quickly built a devoted customer base before their building was rezoned for development earlier this year.
The move to View Royal gave them more visibility and a chance to grow, but the connection to Brentwood never faded.
Finding a permanent space in Brentwood Bay has proved difficult, so the team decided to take a different route and bring their kitchen back on wheels.
The food truck will allow them to serve the neighbourhood again while keeping their View Royal location fully open for dine-in and takeout.
“Our View Royal kitchen is staying open. The truck is simply an expansion. We want our Brentwood customers to enjoy everything they’ve missed,” Kaur said.
The food truck’s menu is still being finalized, but customers can expect many of the dishes that made Masala Roots a local favourite, along with appetizers and popular Indian street-food items.
The team is also working on a few truck-exclusive creations that will rotate throughout the year.
Masala Roots Express plans to operate five to six days a week, with Brentwood Bay as its main home base. The truck will also appear at local events and festivals, and a weekly schedule will be posted online once they launch.
To celebrate their opening, the team will be giving away two $50 gift cards. Details will be posted on their Instagram pages.
