A popular Indian takeout restaurant that’s been quietly building a devoted following in Brentwood Bay is getting ready to start a new chapter in View Royal—and they’re inviting everyone along for the ride.
Masala Roots, known for their bold flavours and street food-inspired menu, has officially announced they’ll be relocating before the end of April.
The reason? Their Brentwood Bay building, where the restaurant opened on March 18th, 2024, in a strip mall on Verdier Avenue, is being rezoned for development.
“This move is bittersweet for us,” the team at Masala Roots told Victoria Buzz. “We’ve been serving the Brentwood Bay community for the past year, and honestly, it’s been such an incredible experience. The love and support we’ve received have been overwhelming.”
While they’ll miss their regulars and the tight-knit feel of the neighbourhood, the stars aligned when they found a new space in View Royal.
“It just felt right,” they said.
“The new location is closer to the city, which gives us more visibility and the chance to connect with a wider audience. At the same time, View Royal has that friendly, community vibe we love,” said owner, Jagpreet Kaur.
The new spot will continue to offer takeout only, but customers can look forward to a few exciting upgrades. Masala Roots is expanding their hours and adding new street food dishes to their already popular lineup. They’re also promising an even smoother and faster pickup experience, with a cozy, efficient space designed for quick grab-and-go visits.
“All your favourites will still be there,” Kaur confirmed. “But we’re also adding some new items to the menu that we’re really excited about. We’ll be sharing the updated menu soon!”
A soft opening is planned for around April 25th, and it’ll be the perfect opportunity to check out the new space and sample a few of the new dishes. The Brentwood Bay location will remain open until April 23rd.
For the team behind Masala Roots, the move is about more than just logistics—it’s about continuing to share culture through food.
“Sharing Indian food isn’t just about serving meals—it’s about sharing our culture, our stories, and our roots. We feel grateful to be able to introduce authentic flavours to new communities and see people fall in love with them.”

Masala Roots is relocating to 262A Island Highway in View Royal and will reopen on April 25th.
