Heads up if you’re planning a trip to the mainland.
BC Ferries has issued an alert to travellers that sailings between Swartz Bay and Tsawwassen could be cancelled on Thursday, November 6th.
The warning comes as strong winds are expected to move across the region.
In a notice issued Wednesday, the company said the 3 p.m. sailing from Tsawwassen and the 5 p.m. sailing from Swartz Bay are currently at risk.
No other sailings appear to be at risk at this time.
The warning comes as Environment Canada forecasts gusty conditions for southern Vancouver Island and the southern Gulf Islands.
BC Ferries says the Spirit of British Columbia remains under precautionary operating limits following a recent mechanical issue, adding that “safety is always our top priority.”
If the weather worsens and sailings are cancelled, customers with bookings will be notified directly and offered a refund or alternate sailing.
The company says crews are closely monitoring conditions and will provide updates as soon as new information is available.
