Move over, Maui… there’s a new romantic hotspot in town.

Vancouver Island has just been named North America’s Leading Honeymoon Destination for 2025 by the prestigious World Travel Awards, and honestly, we’re not surprised.

Beating out big names like Las Vegas, Miami Beach, and Niagara Falls (the only other Canadian nominee), the Island took the crown thanks to its stunning scenery, cozy getaways, and laid-back West Coast charm.

It even edged past Maui, Hawaii—an 11-time winner in the same category over the past 16 years.

From wild beaches and misty rainforests to boutique hotels and ocean-view spas, it’s no wonder couples are falling for the Island’s mix of adventure and relaxation.

Whether it’s a Tofino surf-side sunset or a quiet vineyard stay in the Cowichan Valley, Vancouver Island offers a little magic for every kind of honeymooner.

The awards also gave a nod to the rest of BC, crowning the province North America’s Leading Regional Destination for 2025—proving our corner of the world is having a major moment on the global travel stage.

Adding to Vancouver Island’s bragging rights, Clayoquot Wilderness Lodge near Tofino was named Canada’s Leading Wilderness Resort for 2025.

Surrounded by ancient forest and tucked inside the UNESCO Clayoquot Sound Biosphere Reserve, the luxury eco-lodge has long been a favourite for travellers seeking a truly wild (but comfortable) escape.

With its reputation for sustainability, unforgettable views, and plenty of room to unwind, Vancouver Island’s latest recognition just confirms what locals already know: this place is pure romance.
