Here’s why over 32,000 Toyota vehicles are being recalled in Canada

Heads up if you own a Toyota!

The car manufacture is recalling more than 32,000 vehicles across Canada after discovering a problem with the rear-view display that could increase the risk of a crash.

The recall involves specific Toyota Sequoia SUVs and Tundra pickup trucks, including hybrid models, that come with a 14-inch multimedia screen.

Transport Canada reports that this problem may cause the rear-view camera image to appear distorted or not show up at all when backing up, which violates Canadian safety regulations.

In some cases, drivers may notice a “half green, full green, or full black” screen instead of a clear camera view when reversing.

Toyota states that the issue is related to software and that a free update will be available to resolve it. Impacted owners will get written notice by late November and will need to take their vehicle to a dealership for the software repair.

This latest recall includes 32,733 vehicles under Transport Canada recall number 2025-522. It follows another recall in September that impacted about 70,000 Toyotas in Canada due to different display screen problems.

Vehicles affected include:

  • 2023–2025 Toyota Sequoia
  • 2022–2025 Toyota Tundra and Tundra Hybrid

Both Toyota and Transport Canada warn that a rear-view camera image that doesn’t display properly could reduce visibility behind the vehicle and increase the risk of a collision.

Owners can contact Toyota Canada at 1-888-869-6828 or check their vehicle’s recall status online.
