A quiet Sunday morning turned chaotic in Saanich after a vehicle crashed into a local business at Burnside Plaza on Tillicum Road.
Just after 11 a.m. on October 19th, Saanich Police were called to the 3400 block of Tillicum Road, where a black sedan had driven through the glass storefront of Skyhaven Games.
Two people were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
According to police, the 32-year-old driver was ticketed for driving without due care and attention.
In a statement shared on social media, Skyhaven Games said the crash happened after what they described as a “gas-brake failure,” adding that the driver panicked and accidentally hit the accelerator.
The store confirmed the driver and passenger were not impaired and are both okay.
Two people inside the store suffered minor injuries, including a child who required one stitch for a small cut caused by glass.
A social media post from the company praised community member Steve Gosling for his quick actions in helping an injured father immediately after the crash.
“Thank you to everyone for your kind wishes and concern,” Skyhaven Games wrote.
“Hopefully we will be open on Tuesday.”
The incident remains under investigation.
