Two Victoria Royals players named to Winnipeg Jets ‘Prospects Showdown’ roster

If you happen to be catching the Winnipeg Jets’ Prospects Showdown next week, you’ll probably see a couple of familiar faces!

The Victoria Royals’ own Reggie Newman and Seth Fryer suit up with the Winnipeg Jets for the 2025 Prospects Showdown in Montreal next weekend, officially joining the roster for a two-game stint.

The back-to-back contests for the Jets will begin at the Bell Centre on Saturday, September 13th at 4 p.m. (Pacific time) with Winnipeg taking on the Montreal Canadiens.

The following day, they will face the Ottawa Senators at 4 p.m. on Sunday, September 14th.

Newman hails from Kamloops BC, and the veteran forward is entering his fifth season with the Royals. Last season, he racked up an impressive 13 goals and 20 assists for 33 points in 60 games.

Defenceman Fryer calls Victoria his hometown, and capped off his 2024-25 season with 13 points in 67 games—he also most recently joined the Winnipeg Jets at their 2025 Development Camp.
