A portion of downtown Langford was shut down Thursday morning after police received a report of a suspicious package in a busy parking lot located near Langford city hall.
West Shore RCMP say they were called to 866 Goldstream Avenue at around 11:13 a.m. for a report of a suspicious box found in a parking stall. Officers quickly arrived and established a safety perimeter to secure the area.
Local businesses and nearby residents were notified of the situation, and the RCMP’s Explosives Device Unit has been deployed to assess the item.
Police are urging the public to stay away from the area as the investigation continues.
