Victoria’s downtown core is about to feel like one giant beach party, and the best part?
A big chunk of it is totally free.
The 26th Annual Victoria Ska & Reggae Festival officially kicks off today, and it’s already shaping up to be one for the books. Full festival passes, VIP tickets, and the much-hyped Propagandhi show are all sold out.
But if you missed the boat on passes, don’t worry, single-day tickets are still available for some of the weekend’s biggest acts.
And if you’re looking for something fun that won’t cost a dime, the festival has you covered with three full days of free, all-ages concerts at the Inner Harbour on Wednesday, Thursday, and Sunday.

The waterfront will be transformed into a high-energy celebration of ska, reggae, punk, hip hop, and global beats.
Among the headliners still to hit the stage is Dub FX, returning for his third appearance at the festival with his signature beatbox wizardry and live-looped magic. He’ll be joined by Canadian supergroup Lazy Syrup Orchestra and jungle legend Ed Solo & Brother Culture.
Jakobs Castle — the new project led by Jakob Nowell, son of Sublime’s Brad Nowell — brings a surf-soaked mix of reggae rock and ska to the Victoria Curling Club on Saturday, complete with some nostalgic Sublime classics woven in.
Also taking the stage this weekend is The Pharcyde, the hip hop legends behind “Passin’ Me By” and “Runnin’.” Their Saturday night show is expected to be one of the highlights of the entire festival.
This year’s lineup is packed with heavy hitters and international talent, including Sister Nancy, Long Beach Dub Allstars, Save Ferris, Mad Professor & Amarra, and Marlon Asher.
Artists from Jamaica, Colombia, Mexico, and the UK are sharing the spotlight with Canadian favourites like GrimSkunk, iLLScarlett, Waahli, and local staples like Blackwood Kings and Gun Street Ghouls.
But it’s not just about the music.
The festival also features visual art, workshops, food vendors, and immersive cultural experiences all weekend long — making it one of the most colourful and inclusive events of the summer.
Whether you’re there for the global rhythms, the waterfront views, or just the unbeatable vibe, this is one festival you won’t want to miss.
