Two men have been arrested following a pair of unrelated indecent acts reported in the West Shore on Tuesday afternoon.
The first incident happened just before 2 p.m. on May 20th, when a BC Transit supervisor contacted West Shore RCMP about a man allegedly committing an indecent act on a bus near Jacklin Road and Dunford Road in Langford.
The 38-year-old suspect reportedly also uttered threats toward another passenger and was found to be breaching conditions of a probation order. He was arrested at the scene and remains in custody, with a court appearance scheduled for today, Tuesday, May 21st.
Just two hours later, police were called to a separate report involving another indecent act—this time in a parking lot near the 1700-block of Island Highway in Colwood.
A 67-year-old man was arrested in that case and has since been released on an undertaking, with a future court date pending.
These two arrests come as RCMP continue to investigate a third indecent act reported last week on the Galloping Goose Trail near Happy Valley Road and Lomalinda Drive.
On May 11th around 7:30 p.m., a man was seen standing in the middle of the trail with his pants down, allegedly committing an indecent act. RCMP responded quickly but were unable to locate the suspect at the time.
He’s described as a Caucasian man, 16 to 30 years old, standing around 5’10” with a slim build. He had short black hair and was wearing black pants and a black raincoat with teal, blue, and white vertical stripes
“The complainants reported these incidents to police immediately, allowing our officers to act quickly and locate the suspects,” said Cpl. Nancy Saggar with West Shore RCMP. “We continue to encourage members of the public to report suspicious activity to police right away.”
Police say they’re taking these reports seriously and have increased patrols along trail systems in the area.
“We’re very fortunate here on the West Shore to have such an extensive trail system used by so many residents every day,” added Cpl. Chris Joy, who leads the RCMP’s Bike Unit. “Although these incidents are rare, they are unacceptable and will be fully investigated.”
