Celebrate and explore intimacy in a new and thrilling way!

Victoria’s Hotel Zed is once again flipping the script on traditional hospitality with the launch of “The Love Nest,” which is slated to open in early June.

This is Canada’s first-ever hotel suite intentionally designed to celebrate intimacy, pleasure, and sex positivity.

The Love Nest is a bold, thoughtfully crafted space where comfort meets connection, with every detail curated to honour all bodies, relationship styles, and identities.

In an interview with Mandy Farmer, CEO of Hotel Zed and visionary behind this idea, she said that in order for the room to feel authentic, she needed to gather a team that was just as excited as she was.

She proposed the idea, ensuring everyone knew what the meeting would entail, allowing everyone to gauge their own comfort levels in discussing sex and intimacy.

To her delight, everyone came to the meeting.

“I wanted them to know the ‘why,’ because I think the ‘why’ is super important. Our purpose in our company…is to radically enrich lives—for employees and customers. [So], by providing a room that allows the exploration of connection and greater intimacy, you are most certainly going to radically enrich someone’s life,” said Farmer.

“It’s not just about building a room for better sex, it’s a room that’s built for better intimacy.”

From there, the brainstorming commenced and this collaborative effort to create The Love Nest began—including types of fabric, cleanability, literature and colour palette.

“They were so excited, and it was so much fun.”

Highlights include a mix of sensual features throughout, including a tantric chaise, different grab bars, a fully washable velvet Playpen Sofa, a high-grade sex swing and even a dancing pole.

Plus, there’s a fully mirrored wall with soft velvet curtains to pull across if desired, as well as a spacious bathroom that has been constructed as a wet-room with peekaboo windows, inviting playfulness.

The suite also features a custom grab bar headboard and a curated library packed with educational and inspirational resources for anyone looking to deepen their understanding of intimacy.

“I foresee couples sitting on the couch and browsing through books, and just starting to have those conversations, because sometimes it’s hard to,” said Farmer.

“It’s this beautiful room where you’ve got a chance to be vulnerable and explore.”

And with all of the equipment readily available to try within the room, it gives couples the chance to test things out without worry or commitment, and then decide whether or not they want to incorporate it into their own homes.

When asked what the initial catalyst was for this idea, she brought up a meeting with the Hotel Board Association of Canada, where she was talking to the room of attendees about Hotel Zed’s ‘Nooner’ offering.

“They were just aghast that I was talking about this at a business meeting, and I realized ‘Oh, they don’t ever talk about sex.’ Isn’t that funny? Because it’s something that happens in hotels,” said Farmer.

“Then I thought ‘We’ve never designed a room for better sex, what if we did that?’”

From there, the intrigue turned to action, and Farmer began doing her own research into the possibilities of bringing this to life, which she later brought to her team.

What emerged from this powerful idea isn’t just a sex-themed suite—it’s a love letter to inclusivity, acceptance, and the idea that pleasure should never come with shame.

The space is built for everyone and anyone, including multiple parties, all sexualities, and differing height levels and body types—what you choose to do with the room is up to you.

Another part of The Love Nest’s offerings will include an ‘intimacy kit’ available for purchase, created by two women out of the Okanagan. They contain wellness items such as vibrators, lubes, restraints and more.

Official launch date and prices per night are coming soon, so stay tuned!
