West Shore RCMP’s Bike Unit arrested two men and one woman on the Galloping Goose Regional Trail after discovering they were wanted on numerous warrants.
On April 9th at around 7:21 a.m., the bike patrol officers responded to a call to check the wellbeing of a man who was reportedly laying on the Galloping Goose Trail near Talcott Road in View Royal.
Police say they were told the individual was accompanied by another man and a woman.
While en route, the officers reportedly encountered numerous passing cyclists, who inquired if they were on their way to respond to three people blocking the trail with their personal belongings scattered—making it difficult for other trail users to get by.
Police located the trio and say they were able to determine all three of them were safe and healthy.
However, they discovered the three individuals were wanted on numerous arrest warrants for a variety of offences including:
- Possession of a controlled substance for the purposes of trafficking
- Failure to comply with probation order
- Assault causing bodily harm and mischief
Police say the trio were arrested and held in custody to appear before the court.
“West Shore RCMP Bike Unit officers patrol year-round throughout the West Shore allowing our officers to have presence in areas that police vehicles cannot easily access,” said Cpl. Chris Joy, who is in charge of the West Shore RCMP Bike Unit.
“This call for service is prime example [sic] of how the unit’s versatility allows police to provide better serve to their communities.”
