If you love pizza and beer, then we’ve got the most epic Thursday night activity for you.
On Thursday, May 1st, Herald Street Brew Works (HSBW) is hosting a special pizza and beer night with two seatings at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m.!
Their craft beer will be paired with an exclusive pizza menu from the acclaimed Pizzeria Prima Strada, known for their wood-fired pizzas.
Attendees will then vote for their favorite, and the most popular pizza will be officially added to the Herald Street Brew Works menu as a featured item.
In an interview with Victoria Buzz, co-owner Mike Spence said the event nearly aligns with their one-year anniversary with Pizzeria Prima Strada’s program. So, not only is it a fun event for customers, it’s also a way to honour the continuation of that partnership.
“The program worked really well for us, and [they] mentioned that if we ever wanted to do our own specialized Herald Street Pizza, that they’d try to make it happen for us,” said Spence
And that’s exactly what they’re going to do!
Once this pizza night idea started to take shape, one of HSBW’s employees got to work on coming up with four different flavour combinations.
They then worked with Pizzeria Prima Strada to fine-tune details and figure out which would be best to test out for the event.
Spence added that each customer will get four different slices of pizza, each paired with a 4 ounce glass of one of HSBW’s very own brews to complement the flavour profiles of each pizza.
Here are the official pizza and beer pairings:
- Hot Tropic pizza: Calabrese sausage, pickled jalapeno, pineapple, fior di latte, parmigiano, garlic, tomato base.
- Pairing: Kush-Tastic Grapefruit Terpine Hazy Pale Ale.
- Porco Rosso pizza: Guanchali, leek, fior di latte, parmigiano, garlic, tomato base.
- Pairing: Malty, roasty and crushable, Brodie’s Porter.
- Boss Hog pizza: Housemade Prima Strada pepperoni, guanchali lardons, fior di latte, parmigiano, garlic, tomato base.
- Pairing: West coast James Bay IPA (from an award-winning IPA series)
- Calabrian Night pizza: Housemade Prima Strada sausage, calabrese, fior di latte, parmigiano, red onion, garlic, tomato base.
- Pairing: With a Little Kelp from My Friends Blackberry Kelp Sour Ale.
Tickets are $45, and there’s a total of 38 tickets per seating, so don’t wait too long to snag your spot!
“I’m looking forward to finding out which of the pizzas becomes our own, exclusive to the brewery!” said Spence.
“It’ll be a great event.”
