On Friday, April 11th, treat yourself to one of the most beloved, cheesy comfort foods to ever grace the planet.
Whether you’re into the classic trio—fries, gravy, and cheese curds—or a unique concoction whipped up by a local chef at a Victoria restaurant, there’s no wrong way to poutine.
While its exact origin story is unknown, we do know this iconic dish was born in Quebec in the 1950s.

La Belle Patate
Said to have some of the best around, you can find a location in both Esquimalt and Vancouver if you’re craving poutine on the mainland!
They’re open for both take-out and dine-in.

Known for their legendary BBQing skills, Jones BBQ cooks using a stick burner smoker that they built themselves.

MeeT on Blanshard
Just earlier this year, MeeT’s Butter Chikkin Poutine earned them a top spot on PETA’s Canadian poutine hotspot list!
This plant-based twist on the classic comfort food features crispy vegan butter chikkin smothered in a creamy tomato sauce, topped with dairy-free mozzarella, refreshing kachumber veggies, cilantro, and, of course, a generous pour of meat-free gravy.
