One daffodil, two daffodils, three!
And that’s a wrap—the 50th Greater Victoria Flower Count is officially over and the numbers are in.
This year’s annual count ran from Wednesday, March 5th to Wednesday, March 12th, with a total of 44,006,225,366 blooms logged.
This is billions higher than last year’s 38,031,937,388 total count…now, that is a lot of flowers!
Residents across the City’s municipalities were invited to join in on the fun by tallying the flowers they spotted and submitting counts via the event’s webpage.
On top of building community spirit and celebrating the beauty of spring, there’s a gentle competition for the title “Bloomingest Community” between municipalities, as well as a title for the school with the highest number of flowers counted.
This year, Victoria won Bloomingest Community with 30,328,028,034 flowers counted, bumping Sidney from their two-year run.
Saanich was the runner up with 7,962,110,409!
The title for Winning School and Bloomingest Classroom went to Margaret Jenkins Elementary, specifically Ms. Moll’s Class!
