Central Saanich Police are turning to the public for help after a sports car was clocked travelling nearly twice the speed limit on the Pat Bay Highway before evading officers.
According to police, a traffic enforcement officer was conducting speed checks on Highway 17 near Amity Drive around 2:15 p.m. on Tuesday, March 25th, when they spotted an orange sports car ripping down the highway at an alarming 166 km/h in a posted 90 km/h zone.
The officer attempted to intercept the vehicle, but the driver failed to stop and fled the area before a traffic stop could be made.
Investigators are now hoping someone may have dashcam footage or other information that could help them identify the driver or vehicle involved.
They are asking anyone with details to contact the Central Saanich Police Department at 250-652-4441.
