Vancouver Island’s passion for football is stronger than ever.
The BC Lions’ pre-season game in Langford, set to take place at Starlight Stadium in May, sold out in a lightning-fast 12 minutes after tickets went on sale.
The public sale for the game against the Calgary Stampeders kicked off at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, and within minutes, tickets were gone.
This rapid sell-out shattered the previous record set last year when the Lions’ Touchdown Pacific game in Victoria sold out in under an hour.
“Following the success of Touchdown Pacific and our quick sale for Langford, it’s clear that the region is absolutely buzzing for BC Lions football,” said Lions president Duane Vienneau.
“We’ve got incredible fans here on Vancouver Island, and Amar Doman (BC Lions’ owner) is thrilled to bring the team back in 2025.”
The public sale followed a series of presale rounds, and while all standard tickets are now spoken for, there’s still a chance for fans to grab a seat.
Season ticket holders have the option to purchase a limited number of “premium seats,” though they’ll come at a higher price.
Last year, around 14,000 fans filled the stands at Royal Athletic Park in Victoria to watch the BC Lions take on the Ottawa Redblacks.
This year, fans can look forward to the action at Starlight Stadium, with the game kicking off at 1 p.m. on Monday, May 19th, during the Victoria Day long weekend.
