Those heading to the BC Ferries Swartz Bay ferry terminal should expect more noise over the next month as one of the  berths undergoes repairs.

In a move to maintain the safety and functionality of its terminal facilities, the Swartz Bay terminal will be undergoing some essential maintenance work.

Repair work began on Monday, March 10th, and aims to replace nine fender panels at Berth 1. This project will temporarily close the berth for five weeks, lasting through to Friday, April 11th.

The scheduled work will take place Monday to Saturday from 8a.m. to 8 p.m., with some minor tasks potentially being carried out overnight during low tides to minimize disruption during the day.

While noise levels around the terminal may be more noticeable than usual, the team behind the project will work d to reduce any inconvenience for both customers and nearby residents.

Despite the closure of Berth 1, terminal operations are expected to continue as usual, and there should be no impact to ferry services.

“Thank you to our customers and neighbours for your patience and understanding as we complete this required work,” a media release reads.

The Swartz Bay team will continue to provide updates in the event of any changes to the project’s timeline or scope.
