VicPD has made an arrest and seized a massive amount of drugs after a trafficking investigation that lasted four weeks.
On February 7th, VicPD’s Strike Force unit conducted the seizure of these drugs after surveilling a trafficking suspect’s activities throughout the region.
Police obtained a search warrant and raided the suspect’s residence on Bear Mountain, with assistance from RCMP Island Emergency Response Team (ERT).
One man was arrested inside the residence.
During the seizure, police found $105,000 in cash, one kilogram of fentanyl (pre-packaged in one-ounce bags), 20 liters of Gamma-Hydroxybutyrate (GHB), 13 ounces of methamphetamine (prepacked in one-ounce bags) and six ounces of cocaine.
In the suspect’s vehicle, which police had to get a separate search warrant for, VicPD’s Strike Force investigators found one kilogram of cocaine, an additional 500 grams of fentanyl and methamphetamine as well as a loaded “glock” handgun with a bag of ammunition.
Police say much of this was concealed in a sophisticated hidden compartment in the vehicle which was located by using x-ray technology.
This compartment required a specific sequence of buttons to be pushed in order to open.

“I am proud of the investigative work carried out by Strike Force, with support from the RCMP Emergency Response Team, the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit, and the Greater Victoria Emergency Response Team to remove these deadly substances from our communities,” said Chief Del Manak.
“Targeting drug traffickers remains a priority for our department, and this operation is just one of many successful outcomes in our ongoing efforts.”
The suspect has been released from custody, pending further investigation.
