Man arrested and charged for kidnapping on Vancouver Island

One man has been charged after an alleged case of kidnapping on Vancouver Island last week that was caught on video.

On February 19th, North Cowichan Duncan RCMP were alerted to a possible kidnapping near Queen’s Street in Duncan.

According to reports, a video captured two men assaulting and forcibly placing a third man into a vehicle, prompting immediate police attention.

Later that same day, officers located the suspect vehicle during routine patrols. One man was apprehended at the scene and the vehicle was seized as evidence.

The victim has since been located and is reported to be safe.

On February 20th, Jamie Peckett was charged with kidnapping, assault with a weapon, assault, and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

Peckett remains in custody as he awaits his next court appearance.

The investigation is ongoing, with police actively searching for the second suspect involved in the incident.

North Cowichan Duncan RCMP are urging anyone with information to come forward and individuals with relevant details are asked to contact the RCMP at 250-748-5522.
