The City of Langford is set to host an exciting lineup of free activities for Family Day weekend, running from Friday, February 15th to Monday, February 17th.

This marks the second consecutive year that Langford has offered complimentary events, aiming to bring families together without the burden of cost.

“Family Day is a special day to be present and spend time with loved ones,” said Langford Mayor Scott Goodmanson.

“The City is excited to offer a fun lineup of free activities for the community to enjoy without the expense. We hope this event will provide an opportunity for residents to discover new activities and create lasting memories.”

Among the highlights of this year’s festivities is the introduction of free board game sessions at Outpost Board Game Café. Located at #109, 2830 Peatt Road, the recently opened café will welcome families on Monday, February 17th from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

With an extensive selection of board games and puzzles catering to all ages, this new addition promises hours of engaging fun.

Also new this year, Langford has partnered with Cineplex Odeon Westshore Cinemas to offer free movie screenings.

Families can enjoy Kung Fu Panda on Saturday, February 15th at 10 a.m. or Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire on Sunday, February 16th at 1 p.m. Seating for both films will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.

The Westshore RCMP and Langford Fire Department are teaming up to host a street hockey event at Veterans Memorial Park from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Monday, February 17th.

Two hockey arenas will be available for drop-in games, and attendees can enjoy giveaways, free hot dogs, chips, and juice. No registration is required, but participants should bring their own hockey sticks.

On Saturday, February 15th and Sunday, February 16th, Westshore Town Centre will feature family-friendly activities, including interactive story time sessions with princesses and superheroes, magic performances by Derek “Magic” Johnson, a sing-along with Melody Moonshaker, and Music with Phil. There will also be opportunities for kids to take photos with their favourite characters.

While all activities are free, attendees are encouraged to donate to the Goldstream Food Bank, either at designated event locations or online.
