The Victoria Royals have made headlines once again with another blockbuster trade, acquiring standout forward Brandon Lisowsky and a fifth-round pick in the 2028 WHL Draft from the Saskatoon Blades.
In exchange, the Royals sent veteran forward Tanner Scott, along with second-round picks in 2025 and 2026, to Saskatoon.
This move, announced Thursday, follows another high-profile trade just hours ago for forward Kenta Isogai, as the Royals aggressively reshape their roster ahead of the January 9th WHL trade deadline.
Lisowsky, a 5’9, 181-pound winger from Port Coquitlam, is widely regarded as one of the WHL’s most consistent scorers. A seventh-round pick of the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 2022 NHL Draft, he tallied an impressive 22 goals and 20 assists for 42 points in just 29 games this season. Over his WHL career, Lisowsky has amassed 143 goals and 124 assists for 267 points in 255 games, all with the Blades.
“Brandon has been one of the league’s most consistent goal scorers over the last number of years,” said Royals General Manager Jake Heisinger. “We felt we needed to add a goal scorer to our lineup, and we feel Brandon will bring that to our group.”
This major trade brings in Lisowsky, who is expected to make an immediate impact, but it also marks the end of Tanner Scott’s five-season tenure with the Royals. The 20-year-old forward appeared in 244 games, recording 54 goals and 88 assists for 142 points. Scott will continue his hockey journey next season at Bowling Green State University.
“This was a very difficult decision because it meant having to include a quality player and person in Tanner due to the 20-year-old rule,” Heisinger explained. “We look forward to following the rest of Tanner’s season and his collegiate career.”

Hours before the Lisowsky announcement, the Royals had already made waves by acquiring 20-year-old forward Kenta Isogai from the Wenatchee Wild. Isogai, a stellar offensive talent from Nagano, Japan, has been putting up big numbers this season with 15 goals and 23 assists in just 28 games.
Last season, Isogai led Wenatchee in scoring and earned a spot on the US Division First Team All-Star roster. In his WHL career, he has amassed 126 points in 92 games, solidifying his reputation as a game-changer.
The Royals also secured a conditional fourth-round pick in the 2027 WHL Draft as part of the deal, sending Wenatchee a package of young prospects and picks, including Morgan Hackman, Nick Koering, and three future draft selections.
With the additions of Lisowsky and Isogai, the Royals have added two proven scorers to their lineup. The back-to-back trades not only signal the Royals’ commitment to competing with the WHL’s best but also set the stage for an exciting second half of the season.
