The BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) have issued a three day suspension to Brian Lee, a nurse located in Victoria.
Lee was suspended for taking a ‘selfie’ while in the patient care area of a local medical facility.
“The registrant breached patient confidentiality when he used his personal phone to take a photo in a patient care area of himself and objects used in a medical procedure,” wrote the BCCNM.
“The registrant [Lee] shared the digital photo with other healthcare staff who were not involved in the care of the patient.”
Since the incident took place and the BCCNM have been notified, Lee has voluntarily agreed to terms of amicable punishment for his actions.
Lee has received a reprimand, as well as a suspension of his nursing registration for three days.
The BCCNM is satisfied that the terms agreed to by themselves and Lee will protect the public going forward.
