Bon voyage, Vancouver Island!

If you had the pleasure of riding in an airplane this year, then you’re a part of the 2024 year-end passenger statistics release from both the Victoria International Airport (YYJ) and the Comox Valley Airport (YQQ).

YYJ’s 2024 passenger charts reflect another successful year with a total of 1,724,624 international, transborder and domestic fliers—their stats reflect a period of 11 months, up until November.

This is a slight increase in customers in comparison to 2023, which saw a total of 1,742,350 passengers, making 2024 a 7.5% change overall.

Airport traffic has been climbing steadily since the pandemic, recording only 673,748 passengers in 2021.

YQQ also celebrated a strong 2024 with 402,757 passengers, marking its third-busiest year ever and its busiest since the pandemic.

This represents an 8.3% increase over 2023, with December showing a 17% rise in passenger numbers.

According to their release, the last few months of 2024 were especially notable, setting new monthly records in both October and November.

YQQ offers daily direct flights through British Columbia and Alberta, and seasonal service to Toronto and Puerto Vallarta!

We wish you all another great travel year, Vancouver Islanders!
