Suspect sought after brazen day-time snatch-and-grab cash robbery at Nanaimo bank

Nanaimo RCMP are currently investigating a theft of an undisclosed amount of cash from a customer at a local bank. 

On Friday, January 3rd at the Bank of Montreal located at 6908 Island Highway North, police were informed of the theft, which occurred around 1:45 p.m.

Police arrived on scene within minutes of the incident, but were unable to locate the suspect.

The employees at the bank told police that the customer was in the process of receiving a sum of money when an unidentified person—who was standing in line—grabbed the money and left the bank.

According to the police, the victim and bank employee were not injured. No threats were made and no weapons were produced.

Witnesses stated that the suspect appeared to have been accompanied by a woman wearing grey sweatpants and white runners. 

The male suspect was described as being standing at 6’3” tall, with dark clothing, sunglasses and wearing a black face mask. 

The suspects may have left the area driving a dark colored pick up truck.
