Nanaimo RCMP are appealing to the public for assistance in locating 50-year-old Ernest “Ernie” Cartlidge, who has been reported missing.

Cartlidge was last in contact with his family around January 5th, when his regular communication with them abruptly stopped for reasons that remain unclear.

Concerned for his well-being, his family reported him missing to police on January 20th.

Described as having no fixed address, Cartlidge is known to camp in local parks in the Nanaimo area.

He is an Indigenous man, standing an imposing 6 foot 6 inches tall, with a slim build and a scruffy appearance. He has a moustache and goatee, and a distinctive tattoo of a scorpion on one of his forearms.

RCMP has provided a recent photo of Cartlidge to assist in the search.

Anyone with information about Ernest “Ernie” Cartlidge’s whereabouts is urged to contact the Nanaimo RCMP non-emergency line at 250-754-2345.

Police and family are hoping for any leads that may help bring Cartlidge home safely.
