A recent survey shows that most people are feeling positively about the Christmas and holiday season this year.
The survey was conducted by Research Co., a BC-based data analytic and polling firm, which sought to find out how people feel about all aspects of the holiday season.
According to the survey’s results, 47% of BC respondents expect to experience more fun than stress over the holidays, 34% are expecting more stressful times than fun ones and 13% said they weren’t sure.
When asked whether they prefer “Merry Christmas,” “happy holidays” or if they have no preference, the majority of BC residents (62%) said they use Merry Christmas. Meanwhile, 24% prefer “happy holidays” and 14% don’t care either way.
Looking at classic Christmas dinner dishes and beverages, 79% of British Columbians are looking to indulge in drinking egg nog this December, 46% plan on drinking mulled wine and a vast majority, 84%, said they will be eating turkey for their Christmas dinner.
Research Co. then asked British Columbians when they learnt ‘the truth’ about Santa.
According to the results, 57% said they found out when they were 9-years-old or younger, while 24% said they were older than 10-years-old.
As for when it is appropriate to tell children the truth about Santa, 47% said they thought it was fine to do when a kid is 9-years-old or younger, while 35% thought it best to wait until they were 10-years-old and over.
Lastly, BC respondents were asked how they experienced learning the truth about Santa.
To this, 71% of the respondents said they were ultimately satisfied with their ‘Santa-truth’ experience, while only 9% were dissatisfied and 20% were unsure, or couldn’t remember.
