Just two weeks after Starbucks made waves by eliminating surcharges on non-dairy milks, another coffee chain is following suit.
Good Earth Coffeehouse has announced it will be dropping all extra fees for milk alternatives at its locations across Canada starting November 15th.
Now, customers can enjoy oat, almond, or soy milk in their favourite drinks without worrying about added costs.

The move to eliminate extra fees for milk alternatives reflects a growing trend among coffee brands to support environmentally conscious choices and provide greater inclusivity for dietary needs.
Good Earth’s announcement comes as part of its 2024 Holiday Campaign, which also includes a lineup of new seasonal beverages inspired by festive flavours.
In addition to its updated milk policy, Good Earth Coffeehouse has introduced a collection of holiday-themed drinks, each designed to capture the flavours of the season.
The seasonal offerings include:
- Chocolate Orange Mocha – Espresso mixed with rich chocolate and a hint of candied orange, topped with whipped cream for a festive kick.
- Gingerbread Caffe Latte – A holiday twist on the classic latte, with gingerbread syrup and a ginger cookie crumble.
- Butter Tart Eggnog Latte – Espresso combined with eggnog and flavours of toasted pecans, brown sugar, and cinnamon for a comforting holiday blend.
- Butter Tart Cold Brew with Cold Foam – Cold brew coffee infused with pecan and brown sugar notes, topped with creamy cold foam.
As part of its holiday efforts, Good Earth is also expanding its long-standing Gingerbread Family Program, which raises funds for local food banks. From now through December 31st, $1 from each gingerbread cookie package sold will go toward supporting food banks in local communities.
The coffeehouse chain aims to sell a record 12,000 packages this year.
Good Earth Coffeehouse, founded over three decades ago, operates nearly 50 locations across Canada. This latest move positions the brand alongside a growing number of coffee chains dropping plant-based milk surcharges as consumer preferences shift toward more sustainable options.
The five Good Earth Coffeehouse locations in Greater Victoria include spots at the Bay Centre, on Oak Bay Avenue, and on Superior Street—with the other two located in Victoria General Hospital and Royal Jubilee Hospital.
