Starbucks has announced that they’ll be getting rid of the non-dairy surcharge right on time for their holiday menu.
On Thursday, October 30th, Starbucks CEO and Chairman Brian Niccol shared that as of Thursday, November 7th, they’ll be removing the surcharge from their Canada and US locations.
According to a media release, substituting with a non-dairy beverage—whether that’s soy, oat, almond or coconut—is the second most requested customization from their customers.
This means that more than a quarter of total Starbucks customers in Canada will see a price reduction of more than 10% as they axe the surcharge.
Starbucks’ decision makes them one of the first major QSR brands in Canada to eliminate the charge for non-dairy substitutes.
“This is just one of the many changes Starbucks will be making to ensure a visit to Starbucks is worth it every time,” a media release said.
“The company is refocusing on what has always set Starbucks apart – a welcoming coffeehouse where we serve the finest beverages, personalized by customers and handcrafted by our skilled baristas.”
In addition to the non-dairy charge elimination, Starbucks will be rolling out their holiday menu on November 7th—which includes the return of the Eggnog Latte which the company previously removed from the holiday menu.
Whether you feel it’s too early for Christmas or not, customers can sip into the festive season as holiday-themed drinks return to the menu at locations across Canada.
