Happiness is in the air for a lucky Sidney resident!
According to a media release, Paul Masters had left the winning Lotto Max ticket in his wallet for a few weeks, having no idea of the $1 million prize it held.
He was in the grocery store and had a few tickets on him, and figured he might as well check them all while he was out and about.
“My first ticket won $1, second ticket was $20, which was exciting, and then I checked the third ticket which had a lot of zeroes,” Masters said.
“I checked again and put the ticket in a safety deposit box right away!”
He immediately shared the news with his good, long-time friend from high school, who was also very excited.
“He was very happy for me!”
Masters is a music lover and likes to play with synthesizers in his spare time, so he plans to continue to work with audio, as well as travel to Japan.
When asked how it feels to win $1 million, he expressed his now worry-free retirement.
“I’m not concerned about retiring! I am currently looking after my mom and don’t have any concerns to make sure she is well cared for.”
Masters purchased the winning ticket at Shoppers Drug Mart on Beacon Avenue in Sidney and it was drawn on August 16th.
The media release states that so far in 2024, BC lottery players have redeemed more than $114 million from Lotto Max.
Lotto Max is a nationwide lottery game drawn on Tuesdays and Fridays after 7:30 p.m. (PST).
