A new exhibit is coming to the Maritime Museum of BC that will educate and attempt to make tangible for people the risks currently faced by the Pacific Ocean.
The exhibit will explore the ways in which British Columbians utilize the ocean and what the repercussions will be as climate change continues to impact the world’s largest body of water.
“To live on the coast is to be influenced by the ocean every day,” said Heather Feeney, Collections and Exhibit Manager.
The Maritime Museum says that climate change is not only warming the ocean, but it’s also leading to acidification, causing coastal erosion, facing rising sea levels and expanding areas of deoxygenation.

Their new exhibit will show how these aspects of the ocean’s health will impact the entire global ecosystem.
Additionally, the Pacific in Peril exhibit will show efforts that are being made to mitigate the impacts of climate change on the ocean and how people can help.
“If you love the ocean as much as we do, join us at the Maritime Museum of BC as we explore what climate change could mean for the Pacific and what we can do to help protect it now and for future generations,” said Feeney.
Pacific in Peril will be on display in the Maritime Museum of BC from October 31st to March 30th.
