Greater Victoria residents awoken by another earthquake

Greater Victoria residents were awoken by another earthquake in the early hours Friday.

A magnitude 3.8 earthquake struck off the coast of Vancouver Island.

According to Earthquake Canada, the quake struck at 2:08 a.m. at a depth of 61.5 km.

No tsunami warnings were issued, and there were no reports of damage, and none would be expected either.

A magnitude 4.2 earthquake hit off the coast of Vancouver Island on Wednesday, marking the largest in a series of quakes in southern BC over the past month.

Many Vancouver Island residents took to social media reporting they felt the tremor with many reporting they awoke to their homes shaking.

Last week, a magnitude 4.0 earthquake was also reported about 18 km northeast of Victoria.

That early morning quake was felt across Greater Victoria and Vancouver Island, lasting for about five seconds.
