Two Vancouver Island residents dead after crash with truck in Alberta

It has been confirmed that two residents from Vancouver Island were killed in a two-vehicle crash in southern Alberta on Saturday afternoon.

The residents, a 76-year-old man and a 75-year-old woman from Qualicum Beach, were travelling in their Toyota Corolla on Highway 22 near Cremona, Alberta.

While it hasn’t been confirmed if they were a couple, both were pronounced deceased at the scene.

Police were called to the serious crash, which occurred between the Corolla and a Ford F-350.

The driver of the F-350 was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

RCMP say the cause of the collision is under investigation
